I'm back!
After disappearing for a complete month, I'm back!
So a little recap of what happened within the last month XD
Manifest was er..... very busy, for those who attended and came to the maid cafe, thank you very much for coming! At this stage, we're not sure if it'll happen again in the coming year, but it was very fun and for the most part hair tearing for the organizer(s)! It was a pity that we had to be placed outside though, given the terrible weather. Hopefully next year, if it is happening again, we'll be placed inside. And with the best of luck, we might be able to sell real coffee, if we're allowed to rent the coffee machine that was there.
Anyways, a day after manifest has ended, we flew to Shanghai, China and had a "Blasting" 3 weeks, holidaying/being tortured there. Shopping was the main agenda, and we did spend almost every dime we brought with us, if not more. I was lucky enough to find the Dollzone retail shop in Shanghai and got that Mo I've always wanted, at a hell of a bargain price! The weather was terribly hot for autumn days. We both got sick from the sudden change of temperature, with the outdoor being unbearably hot and the subways' freezing cold. I hit a temperature of 38.9˚C a week after arrival. Good thing it subsided in 2 days, so it is safe to say that I didn't catch H1N1. We didn't even dare go to the hospital, in fear of being quarantined.
Although shopping was great for the most part, I was deeply disappointed at the lack of fabric variety available in Shanghai. I didn't get to buy any fabric I wanted. Though the huge bag of laced we picked-up was somewhat comforting ^^
Our return flight touched-down in the Melbourne airport at 5:50 am last Thursday, and I was immediately back at work the next day. Not a good way to sober up... not at all. Luckily, I handed in my resignation letter the day after and will be relieved of all duties after tomorrow's shift. I'm so glad to finally be getting out of there. But then again, I just got myself into another hole by agreeing to run my neighbors shop for them. Which means 6 days a week, 7 hours a day. Heck.... at least I got the freedom, since I can run it the way I want to. I might be holding BJD workshops there in the future. On Tuesdays. But nothing's solid yet. So will be posting updates if anything will happen at all. Turns out the shop is not doing so well, so got myself out of there as quickly as I could~~ Oh well, I'm in need of a real break anyways, so no biggies^^
All in all, the last month was jam packed with the good and the bad, but the experiences were mostly rewarding. And we plan to do it all again next year! The world expo is taking place in Shanghai and we're planning to go back in September, and maybe a little detour in Japan as well. So here's to hope that next year things will work out for the better.
Or am I wishing a little too soon? XD
